The Last Dance

It was prom for my son, Michael Jr,  last weekend.  His girlfriend’s name is Alicia.  A great young lady.

Michael and Alicia were going to the prom with another couple.  This is Michael’s senior year in high school, so I wanted to get good pictures of this last prom.

So we headed down to Alicia’s house to meet up with all the crew and family from both couples.  We love going down to Alicia’s parents house.  We are always guaranteed a bunch of  laughing and sore cheeks from smiling too much…wait, when can someone ever smile “too” much!

As usual, smiles and laughing were-a-plenty this fine day.  The kids were gorgeous and handsome and the rest of us were just plain awesome!

High tops with Purple laces and matching purple boutonniere!

Michael and his beautiful date...Alicia pulled off beautifully the Burnt Orange request from Michael to match Texas Longhorns colors!

Volleyball!

Over Easter weekend, we had the great pleasure of attending a volleyball tournament there.  What an awesome town…if you get a chance go visit St. Columba church there too…the Easter Vigil Mass was awesome.

We had a great time at the games.  Really enjoyed the Ft. Lewis College games…what a beautiful campus and scenery!

And then we had fabulous volleyball action for two days…it was awesome and the girls did fantastic!

Soul of a Senior Portrait

The Soul of a Senior Portrait

by Michael P. Young

Of what is this passion that burns in my heart/ For the use of an instrument that creates such art/ of a portrait unique of their child inspired/ where a capture of time is truly desired.

A time they wish had never arrived/ from a moment in time that love derived./ This portrait, this photograph, this image is true/ of a child grown up with horizons blue.

To me there remains a connection direct/That I tell my heart to never forget:/ 'tween my passion and soul there remains a test/ when the click of the shutter my heart does arrest.

Cecilia: Santa Fe Senior

I just love a photoshoot that has a spirit of creativity.  Cecilia came to the shoot loaded for bear with outfits!

We had a great round of indoor fashion sets and then some fabulous outdoor urban sets that are to die for.  On the day before the shoot, I went out and found a great location for the snow shots that still had some great undisturbed snow.  For some of the shots, I was really in snow heaven while I was laying flat on my chest in the snow…My winter jacket and my AWESOME Columbia Titanium Bugaboots kept me warm and dry…

Cecilia was a true champion strutting her soccer shots in the tunnel.  Great job Cecilia!

I Wasn’t About To Say No!

I love personal projects. Do a photoshoot for fun…think outside the box…no time constraints…

For quite some time now, my little bean, Victoria,  has been assisting me during the photoshoots.  And for some time now, she’s been wanting to get her own photoshoot.  For months, she’s been planning, and thinking about her photoshoot.  So when she came to me and said she wanted to execute the shoot during the winter break, my heart was full of positive emotion.  I was excited that she wanted to do this.  But even more excited for that father and daughter quality time together…she is my youngest, and trust me…once they start getting older it gets harder and harder to find any kind of time to spend with them, let a lone them even WANTING to spend time with you.  And this little bean is growing up fast…so this was a photoshoot and an opportunity I wasn’t going to miss out on!

The weekend before, we all went down to Santa Fe to shop for her clothes and accessories.  She was in the drivers seat.  Mom provided input when asked.  I just watched, and paid the bill….without reservation.

Victoria thought it would be totally cool to do a snow shoot in the burn area of our mountains…we had a massive fire up here last summer…the Las Conchas Fire….

I just love this shot!

Part of the photoshoot was outdoors at a park in Santa Fe that has a huge old train in the middle of it…we wanted to utilize the train in the shots, but alas, they now have a large fence around it making it kind of suck….as we were figuring out ways to get shots, Victoria looked over at the Tennis ball courts, and saw the snow on the courts had melted and with the angle of the sun, was creating great reflections…SHE came up with the idea for this shot…way to go Victoria!

I hope that if she becomes a model someday  that I can be invited to the photoshoots!
